TRIO STEM serves University of Kansas students pursuing Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) and health-related careers. TRIO STEM and health careers provides a supportive community for participants during their time at the University of Kansas. The program’s primary goals are to increase the college retention and graduation rates of its participants and to help them make the transition from one level of higher education to the next.
Program participants are provided comprehensive, personalized support services to empower them to achieve academic success, including academic, career, and financial advising; tutoring and academic workshops; access to technology resources; and potential to apply for a small, program-provided grant to cover unmet financial needs. All services are free, but students must apply and be accepted to the program.
TRIO STEM is the sister program to TRIO Supportive Educational Services (SES). TRIO SES provides the same supportive services to students majoring in other disciplines as TRIO STEM provides to students in STEM and health-related disciplines.
