TRIO Upward Bound

Upward Bound serves rising 9th- to 12th-grade students who are low-income and/or first-generation college students and who express a desire to pursue a postsecondary education. KU Upward Bound serves students in Wyandotte, Douglas and Shawnee counties who attend F.L. Schlagle High School, Wyandotte High School, Free State High School or Highland Park High School. The academic year program provides: academic advising, tutoring, campus visits, financial aid workshops, parent workshops and career fairs. In the summer, the program sponsors a six-week residential summer institute that offers classes Monday–Thursday on the KU campus. In addition, Upward Bound offers a summer institute for graduating seniors to attend KU for four weeks and earn six college credit hours.
