Biography

Andrea G. Takemoto Reeve is a retired TRIO Director and current Adjunct Faculty with the School of Education-Student Affairs in Higher Education (SAHE) Master’s Program, Colorado State University (CSU), Fort Collins, Colorado; and ShortCoordinator of the CSU Student Affairs in Higher Education (SAHE) and Council for Opportunity in Education (COE) Graduate Certificate in College Access and Success. Andrea is an educational consultant to COE in areas related to college access and success; program assessment, evaluation and compliance, new directors, TRIO program start-up, preparing to write federal TRIO grants and grant proposal review and editing, postsecondary student retention, and first-year programs, and all the TRIO grant proposal writing workshops. She served on the CAS committee that wrote the first set of TRIO and Other College Access and Success Standards and Guidelines and has worked with CAS representing COE since 1993. Andrea has been faculty on a number of professional development training seminars with COE and affiliate regional associations: Retention, Budget Management, Recordkeeping, Financial Aid, Legislation and Regulations, On-Boarding and on-line on-boarding courses (Budgets, Ethics), SSS Start Up, New TRIO Directors and OMB Uniform Guidance and Retention of Indigenous Students and Other Hard to Reach Populations.

Andrea has been dedicated to improving educational access and opportunity for underserved students throughout her professional career beginning in 1968, as a National Teacher Corps volunteer in rural Kentucky, middle-high school social studies teacher-librarian in rural Alaska (1970-1976). Work with TRIO from 1983-2013, includes University of Wyoming UB-TS-EOC Coordinator and TRIO (SSS) Academic Enrichment Center Learning Center Director; Director National TRIO Clearinghouse at COE Pell Institute, DC (1997-2004); and Director SSS Colorado State University (2005-2013); Director of University of Wyoming First Year Programs, SEO-Academic Affairs and Center for Teaching Excellence-- First-year Seminars, Supplemental Instruction, students on academic probation and conditionally admitted students (1990-1997).  A COE Walter O. Mason and ASPIRE TRIO Art Quinn Awardee, Andrea has a B.A. in History from the University of California, Berkeley, an M.A. in Education from Western Kentucky University, and is ABD in Adult and Postsecondary Education from the University of Wyoming.
