Julia O’Dell

Julia O’Dell is a retired TRIO Director with over 20 years of experience. She served as the Director of the TRIO Veterans Upward Bound project at the University of Kansas and is also a Past-President of the National Association of Veterans Upward Bound (NAVUB), an organization representing VUB projects collectively providing pre-college services to more than 6,000 military veterans each year. In addition to her work within NAVUB, she has presented on topics related to veterans and other adults in higher education at several national conferences including the American Council on Education, The Council for Opportunity in Education, and the Higher Education Programs Meeting. She also has extensive experience in working with active-duty military personnel, their families, and veterans during her more than 30 years as a military spouse.

Immediately prior to her work at VUB she served as an Army Transition Counselor at Fort Hood Texas. She has a B.S. degree in Consumer and Family Economics and an M.S. degree in Human Development and Family Studies, both from Kansas State University.
