Biography

Michael Maxwell is a native of the Bronx, New York, but has made Georgia his home since 1995. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Morehouse College, a Master of Education in Instructional Technology from Georgia Southern University and is currently working on a Ph.D. in Instructional Technology and Design at Georgia State University. Michael has served in the college access and success arena for over 15 years. He began working for Morehouse College’s Upward Bound Math/Science Southeastern Regional Institute as a Program Assistant. His passion, commitment, and industrious work ethic afforded him promotions to the positions of Program Manager and Associate Director of TRIO Programs. Currently, he serves in the position of Director of the Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math/Science Projects at Georgia State University.

With a heart for low income, first generation college students, Michael travels extensively and is in demand to conduct trainings and provide consultations on serving disadvantaged students utilizing technology and providing innovative program services for high school students for post-secondary preparation.

Active on numerous community Boards, Michael served as President, Vice-President and Treasurer of the Georgia Association of Special Programs Personnel. President and Treasurer and current Finance and Technology Chairperson of the Southeastern Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel, a board member of the Council of Opportunity in Education, and Treasurer of the Morehouse College Alumni Association.

A talented gospel musician, like his mother, Melusina Sasportas Reeberg, and step-father, Ramon Reeberg, Michael serves as the Worship Arts Director at his home church, Emmanuel Community Church in Conyers, GA. He is married to the sensational Sherontae Maxwell, and the two reside in Conyers, GA.
